Dear Colleagues,

I wish all of you and your families a very happy and prosperous New Year 2010. New Year eve is indeed an occasion when new resolutions and promises are made for future. It is also a day when one can take stock of the achievements and failures in his/her pursuits during last year. It gives me great pleasure to share the progress made by all of us in our endeavors and initiatives during the year that went by. In the last year the VISION and MISSION of DTL were defined with the thoughtful process and a YATRA was commenced to formulate the strategies and plans for ensuring the realization of the expectations of the stakeholders in terms of maximization of operational efficiency at all levels in DTL. We have made remarkable progress in achieving many milestones, significant among them is the timely finalization of various ICB tenders leading to the award of contracts for the setting up of new GIS based sub- stations and laying of underground XLPE cables for power transmission in the scheduled time. This was essential for meeting the growing demand for electricity in Delhi in near future especially in view of the upcoming Common Wealth Games in 2010. In order to keep pace with the time and technology upgradation we had initiated IT based MIS process covering all the areas of operations in DTL with the ultimate aim to achieve paperless working and we have made tremendous progress in that direction during the last year. In order to clear the backlog of pending proposals and decisions, the process of MARATHON meetings was devised to share the viewpoints of all the concerned functionaries in one go. Comprehensive training programs were organized throughout the year to up grade the knowledge and skills of the employees working at almost all the levels in DTL. Besides these the time bound programs have also been initiated for the up gradation and automation of the sub-stations and the implementation of ERP for the integration of all the processes/operations of DTL in order to enhance the overall efficiency.

However the aforementioned organizational initiatives could never have been converted into the discernible success without the hard work and sincere efforts of all of you and therefore I owe the progress made by DTL in the last year towards its VISION and MISSION to the collective efforts of all of you. At the same time I would also like to express that we all need to continue with our efforts with more pace and make a New Year resolution to become leaders and not the followers. I assure all of you of my full support in fulfilling your resolutions.

Once again a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010 to all of you.

Rajendra Kumar
